What is Crude Oil WTI?
West Texas Intermediate, the US benchmark for crude oil.
WTI is the price of light, sweet crude delivered to the storage hub at Cushing, Oklahoma. It reflects the American oil market: shale production, refinery demand, exports and the level of stocks in storage.
Oil is priced on the balance between barrels produced and barrels consumed. Production decisions by OPEC and its partners, weekly US inventory figures and anything that threatens supply routes move it, often by several percent in a day.
