What is Brent Crude?
Brent, the benchmark that prices most of the world’s seaborne crude.
Brent is the price of crude from the North Sea, and the reference for about two thirds of the oil traded internationally. Because it is shipped by sea, it reacts first to anything that affects tankers and export terminals.
It moves with WTI most of the time, usually a few dollars higher. The gap between the two widens when supply outside the United States is threatened and narrows when American exports are strong.
