Before you start

Have an open position and a valid starting stop price. Read the distance unit shown for the selected instrument: percentage or ticks.

Illustrative virtual position. The entered levels and 2% trail are examples, not a trade recommendation; protection has not been submitted.

Set the initial protection

  1. Open Positions and choose Add TP / SL or edit the existing protection.

  2. Choose Entire position or Partial position. For a partial setup, enter the valid quantity you want protected.

  3. Set a starting Stop loss price, then enter Trailing distance. Read the unit displayed for that instrument: percentage or ticks.

  4. Confirm the change and inspect the working stop and protected quantity. A trailing distance without a starting stop is not a complete setup.

02 / 03

Understand the movement

  • For a long position, the sell stop can ratchet upward as the reference price improves. For a short position, the buy stop can ratchet downward.
  • The stop does not loosen automatically when price moves back. The configured distance follows favorable movement and the current stop acts as the trigger.
  • Percentage inputs are converted to a tick distance when submitted. The stop uses that submitted distance rather than continuously recalculating a percentage.
  • Entire-position protection follows changes in the position size. Partial protection covers the submitted quantity; inspect the rest separately.

After a trigger or edit

  1. A trailing stop triggers a market exit. Slippage and partial execution are still possible.

  2. After changing the distance, verify the resulting stop price and the other TP/SL leg.

  3. Check remaining exposure and working orders after an exit. Read any refusal instead of assuming protection is active.

WHEN YOU NEED A HAND

Common questions

Will the trail widen when price moves against me?

The automatic trail ratchets only in the favorable direction. It does not loosen itself as the market retraces.

Does 1% stay exactly 1% of every new market price?

A percentage input is converted to ticks when submitted. The engine trails at that submitted tick distance; inspect the current working stop after a change.

CHECK YOUR RESULT

You’re done when…

The protective stop and its trailing distance are confirmed on the intended position.
