Check the current position side and size. Distinguish an immediate market exit from a pending limit close or a reversal into new exposure.
Select a numbered step to zoom straight to that control.
Close at market
Open Positions and confirm the account, instrument, side, and current open size.
Set Qty on the row. It starts at the full size; type a smaller valid size, such as 0.05 of a 0.1 BTC position, for a partial close.
Choose Market. Inspect the execution result and the remaining position; closing at market can fill away from the last displayed price.
Close with a limit
Enter a valid close quantity and limit price on the position row, then choose Limit.
Check Orders for the pending close. The position remains exposed until a fill reduces it.
After a partial fill, review remaining position size and its working protection.
Reverse or flatten
Reverse closes the current position and requests the same size in the opposite direction through one market order. It is a new exposure decision, subject to entry checks.
The bulk button in the ticket names its scope: Flatten all positions, Cancel all orders, or Flatten & cancel all. It runs at once, without a confirmation, so read it before you press.
After any bulk action, confirm both the open positions and working orders. Resolve an error before assuming the account is flat.
Canceling an entry does not undo fills. Stopping an API key, bot, or copy group does not automatically close a position. To move a stop to your entry price, edit Stop loss in TP / SL; the one-click Breakeven button exists in the QATS Trade Chrome extension.
Common questions
Does a limit close remove my exposure immediately?
Only a fill reduces the position. Until then the limit can remain working while market risk continues.
Can I use Reverse when new entries are blocked?
Reverse includes opening opposite exposure and is subject to entry checks. Use the offered close controls if your intent is only to reduce or exit.
You’re done when…
The remaining position quantity and any working exit orders match your intended result.
