Use Full ticket and confirm the instrument, account, and current quote. Pending entry orders and protective orders have different purposes.
Select a numbered step to zoom straight to that control.
Choose the right order
- Market requests execution against available liquidity now. The displayed quote is not a guaranteed fill price; inspect the estimate and any slippage control.
- Limit sets the most you will pay to buy or the least you will accept to sell. It can rest, fill in parts, or execute immediately when its price crosses the market.
- Stop waits for its trigger, then submits a market order. A buy stop belongs above the market and a sell stop below it.
- Stop-limit has two prices: a trigger and a limit price for the resulting order. Reaching the trigger does not guarantee a fill; the limit may remain working.
Use the full ticket
Open Layout and choose Full ticket if the terminal only shows quick Buy/Sell controls.
Choose the type, then enter the trigger or limit fields shown. For Stop-limit, review both prices separately.
Choose time in force: GTC stays until filled or canceled, DAY ends with the trading day. Crypto perpetuals start on GTC and TradFi on DAY; a pending order can expire without filling.
After submission, inspect Orders for the working state and Positions for any filled exposure.
Link two entries with OCO
Enable the OCO second-leg controls in the full ticket. Review side, type, price, and any separate limit price for the second leg.
Both entry legs must be able to rest. An immediately executable leg is not an ordinary resting OCO setup.
The first fill cancels the other leg. Check both order results and the position, including any partial fill.
Entry OCO and a TP/SL bracket serve different purposes. A bracket protects an entry after it fills; OCO links two pending alternatives.
Common questions
Why did my limit order execute immediately?
A limit that crosses the current bid/ask can execute immediately within its limit. Choose a resting price if your intent is to wait, then verify the accepted order.
My stop-limit triggered but did not close the trade.
The trigger activates a limit order. If liquidity is outside its limit, it can remain unfilled. Check Orders and remaining exposure; a stop-limit is not a guaranteed market exit.
You’re done when…
You know which price triggers the order and which price, if any, limits its execution.
