Select a crypto perpetual in the terminal and read the Leverage and Max slip row. Leverage changes margin, not your loss limits.

Choose the leverage

  1. Open Trading terminal and select a crypto perpetual, such as BTCUSDT. The ticket shows a Leverage row with Max slip beside it.

  2. Pick a leverage from the list. It goes up to your plan’s maximum for that instrument, and the maximum is selected at first.

  3. Read the amount hint under the size: margin and the maximum size follow the leverage you picked. Higher leverage uses less margin for the same size; it does not change your loss limits.

Leverage changes margin, not risk. A BTCUSDT position of 0.1 BTC loses the same dollars per move at 5× and at 20×. Your daily loss and maximum loss limits stay the same.

02 / 04

When the leverage is fixed

  • One instrument has one leverage per account, as on the exchange. With a position open or entries working on BTCUSDT, the row reads Leverage · fixed by position or Leverage · fixed by orders.
  • Every new order on that instrument uses the fixed leverage. To choose another, close the position and cancel those orders first.
  • The terminal does not save your leverage in the layout. Check it before each new position.
  • Live Funded accounts do not show the leverage row; their exchange setup decides it.

Cap slippage on market entries

  1. Choose Max slip: 0.1%, 0.25%, 0.5% or 1%, or Off. 0.5% is selected at first.

  2. Max slip applies to a market order that opens or adds to a position, from the ticket, the chart, the ladder or a hotkey.

  3. If the visible book cannot fill your size within that distance from the best price, QATS refuses the entry and nothing is placed.

  4. Closing orders, Reverse and stop exits are never held back by Max slip.

If an order is refused

  • LEVERAGE_MISMATCH: “ETHUSDT is at 10x on this account (its open position or working orders); orders on it use that leverage.” Use that leverage, or close the position and cancel the orders first.
  • LEVERAGE_NOT_ALLOWED: “Leverage must be between 1x and 20x on BTCUSDT.” Choose a value within that range.
  • SLIPPAGE_EXCEEDED: “The market would fill 0.62% away from the touch, above your 0.5% limit.” Use a smaller size, a limit order, or a higher Max slip.
  • In the terminal these messages start with Request declined and stay until you dismiss them. Figures in the examples are illustrative.
WHEN YOU NEED A HAND

Common questions

Why can I not change the leverage?

The instrument already has an open position or working entries on this account, so its leverage is fixed. Close the position and cancel those orders to choose another.

Does max slippage protect my stop loss?

No. Max slip applies to market entries only. Stops, closes and Reverse are never held back, so they can fill further from the trigger.

CHECK YOUR RESULT

You’re done when…

The ticket shows the leverage and max slippage you intend, and you know when the leverage is fixed by a position or orders.

If this does not match what you see, use Common questions above or contact support with the page and account details.
